Each year, Forbes- the famous business magazine, releases its list of the richest billionaires of the world. The list for 2018 has already been published, with the magazine taking into account 2,208 billionaires from all parts of the world. Of these, 121 billionaires belong to India, a number higher by a margin of 19 from the previous year. This makes Indians the third largest group of richest people- led by the US and China. Below, we bring to you the top ten billionaires in India:
1. Mukesh Ambani
The Chairman of the Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani has grown richer by $16.9 billion in 2018 with the net worth $40.1 billion, according to the Forbes magazine. In 2017, he was on the 33rd position in the magazine’s list with the net worth of $23.2 billion. Ambani climbed up to the 19th global rank on the Forbes’ list of 2,208 billionaires worldwide this year.
2. Azim Premji
Azim Premji, the chairman of Wipro Limited, has occupied the second spot in the list of the richest Indians in 2018 outperforming Lakshmi Mittal, the global steel magnate. He has climbed to 58th global rank with the net worth $18.8 billion in 2018 from the 72nd rank with the net worth $14.9 billion in 2017.
3. Lakshmi Mittal
Lakshmi Mittal, the chairman, and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the global steelmaker, stands on the third position in the Forbes’ list amongst the Indian billionaires with the net worth $18.5 billion in 2018. His net worth was $16.4 billion in 2017. He came down to the 62nd rank on the global list this year as compared to the 56th rank last time.
4. Shiv Nadar
Shiv Nadar is the famous Indian IT pioneer and co-founder of HCL, which is one of India’s leading software services providing company. He occupies the fourth position in the Forbes’ Indian billionaires list 2018 with the net worth is $14.6 billion and is placed on the 98th rank worldwide.
5. Dilip Shanghvi
Dilip Shanghvi is the co-founder of the Sun Pharmaceuticals, which is India’s most trusted pharmaceutical company. He ranks next to Shiv Nadar as the fifth richest Indian with the net worth $12.8 billion this year. He also occupies the 115th spot in the 2018 global billionaires list of Forbes.
6. Kumar Mangalam Birla
Kumar Mangalam Birla is the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group who made it to the Forbes’ billionaires list in 2018. He became the sixth richest Indian with the net worth $11.8 billion and is ranked 127th globally according to the Forbes’ list.
7. Uday Kotak
Uday Kotak is the Managing Director of Kotak-Mahindra Bank which is one of the leading private sector banks in India. He stands on the seventh position in the Forbes’ list of richest Indian billionaires 2018 with the net worth $10.7 billion. He is also ranked 143rd in the Forbes’ global list of billionaires this year.
8. Radhakishan Damani
Radhakishan Damani is a veteran investor, who owns the supermarket chain D-Mart. He stood on the 12th rank among the richest Indian business personalities in the 2017 Forbes list with the net worth $9.3 billion. According to the latest Forbes list, he stands at number 8 with the net worth $10 billions among the richest Indian personalities of 2018 and occupies the 151st position in the Forbes global list of 2,208 billionaires worldwide.
9. Gautam Adani
Gautam Adani, the ports tycoon and the founder of Adani Group, is on the ninth position in the Forbes list of richest Indians 2018. His net worth is pegged at $9.7 billion and occupies 154th position in the Forbes global list of 2018.
10. Cyrus S. Poonawala
Cyrus S. Poonawala is the founder of Serum Institute of India Pvt. Ltd., which is the world’s largest producers of vaccines in the world. He is placed on the 10th position with the net worth $9.1 billion among the richest Indians. He is also ranked 170th in the global list of the magazine.
